The best robot vacuum can clean and vacuum your floors with no effort. It will also leave the floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as dirt detector) are a plus.
Be sure to regularly inspect your robot's brushes for tangled hair and large particles and clean them as required. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

It did a decent cleaning job on various floors and rooms with different flooring types including some area rug. automated vacuum was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competitors. automatic vacuum of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas tend to be.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. Finally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has an app that's less intuitive and a small base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
